I got through the experience by running on the ad-hoc ignorance, i.e., just go and try what I think will work and then keep going until I felt satisfied. So, I ended up with a script of alternate ways in which I thought I was doing things. But, that is the one that has now become the standard. You can see the version in the casting call notes. It is under the name "War Story." LOL

But, I had no real sense of sound design, which you need to do in film. I had no real sense of the visual aspects of the film– what I meant to accomplish with the image, what I was contributing to the image with the mix I was using, what I hoped people would make of the film, etc. So, I didn’t have any real sense of what I was doing there; It was a kind of experimental documentary from the inside, not a good or bad thing.

So, I kept at it on that level for about 18 months. Even now, I’m still learning. I’m trying to think of what other levels of communication I had to do with that script before I’m satisfied with it. And, I was really happy to get that resolved. d2c66b5586
