PU - PU School of Engineering was established in the year 2002. Now, PU has more than 100 schools of engineering spread across 17 locations and is the largest tertiary educational institution in the State. The PU-PU School of Engineering is a mixed institution where both graduate and post-graduate students are admitted. It provides Quality Engineering Education like no other institute in the State. It is well equipped with the latest generation of high tech equipments for teaching and research. It offers three-year and five-year integrated programs in Bachelor of Technology and Master of Technology. PU-PU School of Engineering is one of the best engineering colleges in the State and is the largest provider of engineering education in the State. This is no doubt a reflection of the hard work of PU-PU Council of Engineers (Bengaluru Chapter). The Council comprises of eminent engineers and leaders of the society.
Pu. La. Deshpande was first approached by Subramanyan to write the story of a Hindu god. Pu. La. deshpande narrates the tale of a young simpleton (Krishnamurthy) who is raised by a Muslim family while the Hindu parents go to America. The young Krishnamurthy has a vision of his parents in India along with a young girl called Jhansi. He travels in search of his parents but turns out to be the younger brother of Jhansi. The book is known for its stark dialogues of Hindu and Muslim characters. The novel is published in English as Ohmsan and in Tamil as Pulaththayil. Pulaththayil was awarded the Prix du Meilleur Roman de L'Art in France. The film rights of the book was purchased by the filmmaker S.S.Rajamouli for Bharathiraja.
Pu. La. Deshpande also contributed in the establishment of IUCAA with the donation of land & money. He is our greatest scientist and a strong advocate for scientific research in India. At some point, people were opposing the presence of Pu La's books in IUCAA due to his controversial views of foreign science books and his advocation for Aryan superiority.[24]
Pu. La. Deshpande started learning English and made a few English books & articles. Unfortunately, he had to stop his writing career due to his failing health condition.[25][verification needed]
Pu. La. Deshpande also was instrumental in the establishment of the Yuvak Mandal, a library where youngsters learn about Science & Technology. The funds from Yuvak Mandal is used for students from government schools and to fund programs.[27] 827ec27edc
